My Experience
I began my work in communications as a community journalist for nearly five years at several Kentucky newspapers, eventually serving as editor of two publications.
My work has appeared in weekly, multi-weekly and daily newspapers in Kentucky. Although content was primarily focused on interest stories to local readers, newspapers across the state -- including the Louisville Courier-Journal and Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer -- had access to my work through the Kentucky Press News Service.
After a graduate internship supporting the international communications team at a Fortune 50 company -- and another stint at my local publication -- I relocated to the Washington D.C. Metro area where I've had the opportunity to work on financial communications, internal communications, employee development, and technical writing.
Most of my portfolio featured on this site emphasizes my photography. The development of my skills began with a single course in college and the lessons learned in the decade since have carried me to the point where I've had the opportunity to photograph 19 artists and bands with more than half a million monthly listeners on Spotify.
My Education
I graduated with a Master of Arts in strategic communication from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University. I was also editor-in-chief of my student newspaper during undergrad and a presenter at six regional and national collegiate honors program conferences.
